Biased Crime or Hate Crime
When a member of the University of Minnesota, Morris community experiences or becomes aware of a possible bias-related incident, the University of Minnesota will provide support and address disrespectful bias and discrimination within our community. The University of Minnesota, Morris has established campus procedures for reporting and responding to bias incidents.
If you have been physically threatened or are the victim of a crime, call 9-1-1.
The University of Minnesota, Morris does not tolerate acts of discrimination by any agent or organization of the University of Minnesota for reasons of actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, gender identification, age, marital status, disability, public assistance status, veteran status and/or sexual orientation and will seek resolution of such matters. As a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender person, it is okay to call the Police if you have been called a pejorative name and you feel threatened. You can speak to a police officer anonymously. Campus Police are available by calling:

- 320-208-6500 (nights/weekends);
- 320-287-1601 (nights/weekends).
Student Counseling provides free, confidential support for all students, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. during the academic year. The Stevens Community Medical Center crisis line 1-800-568-5955 is available 24/7.
Additional Reporting for Those Experiencing Bias Incidents
Report all harassment and/or discrimination incidents using the U of M, Morris Bias / Discrimination / Harassment Reporting Form.
Reports received during the evening and/or weekend will not be received by the Morris campus until the following business day. If you are physically threatened or the victim of a crime, contact Campus Police or local law enforcement officers for immediate assistance. Call 9-1-1.
Reports should include as much detail as possible:
- Record where and when the incident occurred
- Document the names of witnesses, if applicable
- Document detailed information about the perpetrator(s), if applicable
- Retain any physical evidence of the incident (photos of messages written on doors, physical objects, etc.).
Employees of the University of Minnesota, Morris who become aware of a violation of University policy, the Student Conduct Code, or illegal activity are required to report the incident to their supervisor and to the appropriate campus authority, including Campus Police for criminal activity.
Every effort should be made to support the student in making the decision to contact a parent and/or guardian. Parents or guardians of students should be notified only at the request of the student or if there is a health or safety emergency.
